Water installation information

We’re here to help with all your water engineering needs and have compiled the following information and links to helpful publications and design tools to assist you.

Our pipe can be installed by a variety of techniques, including open trench, direct plow-in, plus trenchless installation methods such as horizontal directional drilling and pipe bursting. The flexibility, smaller bend radius, and fully restrained joints enable it to be installed with fewer fittings and smaller open pits. We recommend following the Plastics Pipe Institute’s “Handbook of PE Pipe, Second Edition” and the American Water Works Association’s “M-55 PE Pipe – Design and Installation” for design and installation guidance.

We also recommend field leak testing according to ASTM F2164,” Standard Practice for Field Leak Testing of Polyethylene (PE) Pressure Piping Systems Using Hydrostatic Pressure.” Maximum test pressure should be 1.5X system design pressure, taking into account the temperature of the pipe and other pressure transients (e.g., elevation changes) at the time of testing.

Our pipe is joined by heat-fusion techniques to give a fully restrained leak-free connection. We recommend heat-fusion joining following ASTM F2620, “Standard Practice for Heat Fusion Joining of Polyethylene Pipe and Fittings,” PPI TR-33 or PPI TR-41.

Other joining methods include electro-fusion fittings, mechanical fittings and couplings, flange adapters, MJ adapters, and transition fittings to other types of piping materials.
